Create Windows Applicationn that uses a COM Port

Program Name: Matko Display Control I need a program that displays between 2 and 10 text boxes along with a corresponding label. The text from each text box needs to be packaged into a specified data stream specified below and transmitted serially through a com port at a rate of about 2 times a second There needs to be several menu items to allow the user to select the settings. The last settings and contents of the text boxes used should be saved and reloaded at the next launch. I’m fairly flexible on how you design the interface and if you want to combine menu items into similar items or split them, we can discuss the details as they make things easier for you • Displays: The user needs the ability to select how many messages will be displays and transmitted. The value will be between 2 and 10. The user should also have the ability to set the label text for whichever number if displays is selected. By Default you can label them “Display 1” through “Display 10”. I would like the window to resize itself based on the number of displays selected • Port Settings: User should select the baud rate 1200- 19200. Default to 1200 baud and all bauds use 8 data bits no parity. The user also needs the ability to select the port. Only available ports should be listed. • Start / Stop: allow the user to transmit or stop transmitting data. There should be a visual indicator that makes it clear which state it is in (blinking dot with every transmission, grey out the option selected so it can’t be clicked again…) this can be a menu item or even a button on the main screen The program should transmit all the selected data streams with the below format twice a second at the selected baud rate and through the selected com port Data Format: The start of each stream will by the ASCII character for that number. The message for display 1 will start with a start of header Chr(1) in VB, the 4th message will start with an end of Text Chr(4). After the address character the text in the text box will be transmitted. This needs to be formatted to be a minimum of 6 characters with leadings spaces. If only “AB” is typed in the box, the software needs to transmit 4 spaces, then “AB”. The last character is a carriage return Chr(13) So for each selected display there will be a minimum of 8 bytes transmitted, and there will always be at least 2 messages transmitted. The icon should probably be a PC, but I’m not a graphics person and would love some initiative for something that looks good
