If this is a Raspberry Pi without a wireless interface, then the answer is obvious. Because not all Raspberry Pis even have a wireless interface. If this is an USB chip, and if it has a Realtek chipset (seen by doing lsusb and checking for an RTL* audio controller) then this is an universal sore point on the Linux community, and you should invest in an adapter that does not have a Realtek chipset.
