Color recognition with automated response program

I'm need a program that is independent of other programs and can recognize four to five colors as they enter from the right side of the screen in an oblong shape (bars) that are approximately 1/4 inch wide and can vary in height. The bars in some cases can be the entire height of the viewing area or as short as less than an inch. At times when a color change might be about to occur, a black dot appears somewhere on the bar. The automated response is to be triggered either by the black color or just a change in color on a button on another program.
