Background Celebrate Goodness is a web-based start-up company entering the social media, social networking, and social good industries. We are creating a dynamic web application designed for user-generated content. The site is intended to celebrate the good in the world and each other. Founded in 2010, we're about 6 months into development, hoping to launch our first iteration of the site sometime in 2011. Our team is distributed, currently operating in three US states, programming in PHP and Drupal CMS. We are looking for new talent to join us from anywhere in the world on a project-by-project basis. Developers will be paid hourly as independent contractors. Expectations Personality: We expect you to be organized, efficient, talented, humble, professional, and honest. We are positive, honest, and relational people. We will treat each other with respect. We have many features to build out so if you enjoy working with us and we you, you will have an ongoing supply of work. Essentially this is a paid trial for both of us. We practice agile development methods and communicate as a team throughout the project, so feature requests may be added or changed along the way. This is one reason we pay hourly. Technical: You will need to build and test the project on your own server environment. In the end you will provide our team the finished product to implement on our servers (AWS). As an independent contractor you are considered a "work for hire", so the work you complete for us will be owned by Celebrate Goodness as intellectual property subject to US copyright/patent laws. You will need to agree to and sign our company agreement confirming our ownership of your code. Required Skills (proficient in all of the following) * Experience in the development, testing and deployment of web applications * Javascript * AJAX * SQL * XML * jQuery, YUI, Google API or other * PHP (and other server side programming languages) * Implementing external API calls * Drupal CMS Bonus skills (experience with any of the following) * FBML * Facebook application development * Mobile application development * Involvements and contributions to open-source projects * Web design Project You've probably seen this all over the place and used a similar system yourself. We need a photo importing system that allows users to: * provide login credentials to other sites (flickr, facebook, picasa, shutterfly, photobucket, myspace, etc) and import their selected photos to our site * upload photos from a personal computer or mobile device, including drag/drop from desktop * provide a URL of a desired photo to import * upon successful import/upload, manipulate the photos via crop and/or resize * we have other requests for this photo importing system but these are the primary features without disseminating trade-secrets Note: We are looking for more than one contractor and have more than just this project. So with the responses we receive on this project we'll select someone to complete this project, and create additional, private vWorker projects to assign to other applicants. Other projects include utilizing the Ajax Push Engine for chatting and real-time feeds, a goal setting/tracking engine, and more.
