Automation of the following process is needed. I have 3 separate queries which I have completed in MS SQL. I need to run and get the result set to tab delimited. there will be 3 text files in tab delimited format as a result of the queries being run. Once the results sets are in tab delimited a copy needs to be put in an archive folder and a second copy needs to be encrypted to PGP using a 1024 key I have already. Upon that step being completed the PGP needs to be copied to a sftp. Once it copies over and is verified those files which were copied need to be archived in a separate folder and the folder that was used for FTP needs to be empty. If the sFTP fails the pgp encrypted files need to stay in the folder to help indicate a failure. These sql results are intended to be run after hours around 10:00 pm (22:00) and the copy is intended to happen around 11:00 pm (23:00). I would like to automate the entire process, I believe this would be best completed by Powershell, and an FTP client which supports sftp.

Hello, I may have 2 easy options for you. One usng powershell and other using a small .exe file which will have the auto-executed which can be set within the apps its self. The small apps would be written in C# with user interface you could manage such as which table, time for execution, sftp configuration, etc. So it offers the easy configuration instead of using powershell where you should do script modification or command line arguments. Hello there, to automate the process within MSSQL there're many choice we can pick up such as writing a program to do it but the tool should be consider here should be the ETL tool, i recommend SSIS (SQL Server Integration Service) because it reads the data from MSSQL, then output to csv file. After that we will do some other thing such as copy folder, encryption (SSIS use the Execution Process task to call the encryption PGP outside to encrypt). Finally when they're done by that then copy to the proper destination using the FTP protocol calling from inside SSIS (Using the built-in SFTP task). Within SSIS to deploy you can monitor the steps to see where the files is now, which step is failed.... Pls share me more thing to discuss. Waiting for your response if interested. Thank you!!!
