Simple css menu change with jquery

I have a simple collapsable menu system setup for a mobile friendly website. It uses the accordion script from dynamicdrive.com. At present it gives menu headers which are just solid red colour with hover color change. I want to be able to optionally change the menu headers to graduated (using background image i guess). This can then give an "iphone" type style effect. Sample is in "menu sample" folder. I want to keep the original graphic option on the end of the headers to show state OR be able to EDIT this to a different icon when required. I will use this script to create other mobile friendly websites so need to be able to EASILY EDIT the colours with graduated PNG OR SOLID colors depending on customer requirements. All effects must be cross-browser compatable. Must see screenshots/video or demo webpage showing finished working project before payment made.
