Project Overview: PROJECT GROCERY STORE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM The objective of this project is to design and implement a Grocery Store Management System using object-oriented programming principles. The system will facilitate the management of inventory, customer transactions, and various aspects of a grocery store. Key Features: 1. User Authentication System: Implement a login system supporting database authentication. Two types of users will be defined: • Cashier/User: Can process customer transactions, manage inventory, and view sales reports. • Manager/Admin: Has full access to all system features, including user management and system settings. 2. Inventory Management: Maintain a comprehensive inventory of grocery items with details such as name, category, price, quantity in stock, and supplier information. Admin users can add, update, or remove items from the inventory. 3. Point of Sale (POS) System: Implement a POS system where cashiers can add items to a customer's transaction, calculate the total cost, apply discounts, and generate a receipt. The system should update inventory in real-time. 4. Customer Management: Store customer information, including names, contact details, and purchase history. Admin users can view and manage customer profiles, track loyalty points, and apply discounts. 5. Sales Reports: Generate comprehensive sales reports, including daily, monthly, and yearly summaries. Admin users can analyze sales data to make informed decisions. 6. Loyalty Program: Implement a loyalty program to reward customers based on their purchase history. Admin users can set rules for the loyalty program, such as point accumulation and redemption. 7. Exception Handling: Incorporate exception handling mechanisms for scenarios such as invalid inputs, insufficient stock, or transaction errors. 8. JavaFX Elements: Develop the user interface using JavaFX, providing an intuitive and visually appealing experience for both cashiers and admin users. 10. Other OOP Concepts: • Inheritance: Utilized for creating specialized classes for different types of grocery items. • Polymorphism: Applied in scenarios where different classes may exhibit similar behavior. • Abstract Classes and Interfaces: Defined for structuring common functionalities and ensuring consistency across classes. • Anonymous Inner Classes: Employed for event handling in the JavaFX user interface. Conclusion: This Grocery Store Management System project aims to streamline operations, enhance customer experience, and provide valuable insights through effective use of object- oriented programming concepts. Specifications: We need it done by 29.01.2024 without a database using javafx and simple java programming .
