Consolidate multiple bank csv/xls/pdf downloads. The exercise is to extract data from a range of downloaded transaction files and insert these into a single cumulative dataset. The cumulative dataset should then be able to automatically update a Pivot Table in a Microsoft Excel workbook. The platform is a Windows 10 64-bit PC. The downloads are carried out at least monthly. There are variations within the structure and the field formatting between each bank download file. Most of them are .xls or csv format. At present, only one of them is a PDF bank statement report, but that could change in the future. The process should be able to cater for additional bank accounts being opened in the future and for variations in the structure and formatting of the fields within the downloaded files. The common fields that are required for the cumulative dataset are: Bank Name; Account Number; Transaction date; Transaction amount; Currency; Description 1; Description 2. Note, in some downloaded files the Transaction Amount is split into two separate fields (Paid and Received, or other such words). When the Transaction Amount is not split, and negative sign is used. It is important that negative and positive amounts are consistent across the dataset. The dataset will have additional fields for manual entry to allow for the analysis. For example: Additional description; Reconciled; Accounting code; etc. These additional fields will be included in the Pivot Table. The process would have to ensure that no duplicate transactions were created in the cumulative dataset. In checking for duplicates the user with have to be alerted to each one to manually check in case there is actually a true repeat transaction. After the dataset is updated all the downloaded files should be deleted except for the PDFs. A high level of automation is required for this with the absolute minimum of manual intervention by the user. The successful freelancer will have to be able to demonstrate having carried out similar work in the past.
