Database Integration & price strategy formulas

Files format : ASCII or FOXPRO # of tables : approx 12-15 Data Dictionaries will be provided Recommended Indexes will be provided Data Relationships will be provided We are receiving data from 3 parties on a daily base: -Suppliers (csv files from their FTPs) -Data Meta Content provider (99% of the data) -3rd party info (csv files, location TBD) Suppliers -CSV formatting are not the same for each suppliers. Sometime, pricing and inventory are in the same file, and one supplier provide inventory info in a single file and pricing in another file. Those files are accessible by FTP. For now, we need to set-up 5 warehouses. This number will go to a dozen in the near future. Data Meta Content -Data is provided by ASCII or FOXPRO. -Data Exchange is done by our provider of Meta Content thru their system called DataTransport. DataTransport will ask the following set-up questions: • • Where would you like your output data placed? • • How often do you want check for new data to be downloaded? • • How do you want to export data? • • How often? (Hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or manually?) • • Output a full data set, or incremental updates? • • What format? (Users will be able to use virtually any format, via ODBC) • • How do you want your data to look? (What tables and fields do you want in your data output)? 3rd party info We will use a content grabber/scrapper for extracting some info from other websites. The info will be provided by csv files, and will need to be linked to the database with some logical formulas. Translation We need to translate 2 columns from English to French. The word to be translated will be provided, and the translation too. The amount of words to be translated is less than 15. For examples: English to Anglais, French to Francais, Spanish to Espagnol, etc. The French translation will be stored in a table in the database. Price strategy and pricing formulas We do business in 5 currencies. We will need tables for each currency we do business with. We have cost, retail price and 5 levels pricing. The cost is based on USD. We need to find a way to calculate our selling prices automatically without human intervention. We need a way to see the profit we make per item, in percent and local currency. Search & Queries We need to perform searches quickly by several attributes. It can be UPC codes, Poruct ID, cast, director, original title, box office range, release date range, etc. The best thing will be on a web interface so our employees can access the data quickly. Export & formatting We are currently using 2 online platforms. We need the data to be customized so it can be uploaded on the platforms by complying to the specific platforms’ requirements. The amount of data exported need to be limited by using some filters. Once a day, pricing and total inventory need to be updated on the 2 platforms automatically. The export file formats are delimited text and csv. Related info We are running window based PCs. We have hosted accounts where we have access to several scripts, tools and SQL servers. Our accounts are with [login to view URL] . If we need to upgrade our accounts for this project, we will do so. If you suggest having a LINUX box connected to our LAN, we will buy the required hardware. We don’t have any server on our LAN right now. Non-disclosure and confidential forms will be required. Late fees clause will be inserted in the contract.
