Dear coders,
I am looking for an experienced c# Winforms (.NET 2.0) and SQL Server 2000 developer.
I currently have up to 30 .DBF dBase files that are populated with data.
A couple of .DBF files have already been imported in to SQL Server with c# code but the code is not of high quality and requires someone more experienced to either enhance it, or start from scratch.
There are a few points to consider:
1. I will give you the SQL Server table structure. This table structure will be slightly different than the dBase one. For example, in one table called Supplier, there is a field called "Currency" and the records have values such as "USD", "UKP" etc. In this instance, I created a different table called Currency, and in the Supplier table, instead of Currency, the column is called CurrencyId and the import script checks the Currency table, if the record exists it inserts that records CurrencyId value, if not, it creates a new record in Currency and adds the new Currencyid value. (I guess dBase isn't a relational database)
2. The dBase data is going to occasionally change. Therefore, the program needs to ignore records that already exist in SQL Server and only add new records. Ideally running the program will "synchronise" the data.
3. Occasionally data in the dBase field conflicts with the SQL Server datatype. e.g. the datatype might be an Int, but the dBase value is -3484. When the application is synchronising, if there is a data error it should bring up the value in an Confirm box so the user can manually type in something else, until it is finally accepted.
I need someone who can work on this quickly and can preferably do this full time. I also have a lot more c# work needing to do so please let me know if you would be available for more work over the coming few weeks/months.
