Job Responsibility: Vendor Management (Around 50 local vendors)
To manage Vendors efficiently so as to achieve the twin objectives of maximizing customer satisfaction by timely supply of parts for after-sales requirement & at the same time optimizing material inflow of stocking Depots.
Supply Management:
• Continuous co-ordination with all Vendors for timely supply of parts to HMIL so as to achieve target service rate.
• Aligning Honda’s ordering system to that of the Vendor PPC.
• Supply schedule fixation based on Parts Sales/Cast Analysis & Vendor production plan.
• To review Vendor Performance & Reports forwarding.
Supply Lead-time Analysis:
• Continuous monitoring of Vendor’s lead-time performance.
• Analyze & Initiate suitable actions in case of deviation from set standards.
Supply Solutions for Obsolete Parts:
• Part wise “Vendor Situation Study” for Out of Vehicle Production Parts.
• Align / Adjust HMIL procurement for these parts based on the above study.
Vendor Rating System:
• Developed Vendor Rating System based on “Factor Weight age” method.
• Monitor Vendor rating on a yearly basis.
Liaison Between Vendor and Other Sections in the Dept:
• Co-ordination between supplier & Honda technical/development teams
• Resolving Supply – constraint situations.
• Maintain smooth Vendor – HMIL relationship through transparent & on-site management approach.
In House Parts Expediting:
• Co-coordinating with Production Management Team for Spare Parts requirement.
• Releasing Production Plan for on a monthly basis to Press/body/Engine shops.
ACHIEVEMENTS
• The concept of Vendor rating system was introduced and well accepted by all the Vendors; this motivated them to perform better by adhering to HMIL purchasing guidelines of timely & quality conscious supplies.
• Reduction in lead-time of supplies from Vendors meant that the department was able to control additional cost, which could have come due to higher inventory carrying.
• Scheduled receiving of high-volume parts resulted in reduced workload on warehouse, in turn making the receiving functions better planned.
• Effective Communication and prompt feedback to vendors.
