If you provide us the key words in order of deletion, we can create a macro which will keep on eliminating words one after the other until total characters excluding " " are lesser than 80. I have a university degree in economics and IT, and several decades of system design and programming, in the recent decade especially in Excel and VBA. I plan to complete the project via writing an Excel macro (UDF) contained in a separate XLSM file which also contains your list of word to be deleted. This approach makes further use of the macro very convenient by offering a Control sheet containing cells populated by the usual Open file and/or select folder dialogs to identify the current input and output files and hosting command buttons and other controls if necessary. In my approach you'll have opportunity to consult details with me, to test pilot solutions if necessary in order to achieve an optimal final solution. Hello there. The project can be done the following way: 1. The list of words to be removed will be on a separate sheet (or in a separate column). Let's call it "control list" 2. Macro will scan raw data cells and if the length of text in a cell is more that 80 characters, macro will remove the first word which is specified in control list. If the length of text in the cell is still more than 80 chars, then macro will remove the 2nd word specified in control list and so on, until the length is less than 80 chars or until all words specified in control list are removed from raw data cell. 3. If all words specified in control list are removed from raw data cell, but the length is still more than 80 chars, that cell will be highlighted.
