Hello Yello: The best way to perform scheduled tasks (in most of cases) is to have a service or executable that is executed when necessary and not directly from a web application. The service or executable will be responsible for searching and taking the TSV files, processing them and inserting the information into the DB. The web application can act as a configurator or as a handler in case it is desired to start the task manually through it. Another alternative is to simply implement an executable and create a operating system scheduled task. Regarding the performance and speed desired, the information can be processed in batches or in parallel, speeding up the insertion/updating process using the benefits that .NET provides. "HELLO YELLO" Hey, Paras here. I am working primarily on ASP.NET MVC for my FTE currently and have more than fair experience with it. I love to solve problems and I believe I have good design skills. So you need to parse large TSV files, and considering you have already a working solution in PHP what you are looking for is a faster way to do this. Shifting from PHP to C# will definitely improve the overall parse time, but since your file sizes are pretty big it will still take some time(cannot give a number now). Since you only to need parse files I am thinking of a single controller and model (just my opinion, we can change it if need be). I can also look into to optimize the parse time of the TSV files once the basic functionality is done. Few questions: - What DB are you using ? - Expected parse time ? - Parsing rules? - No UI needed? - If I understand correctly each file size ranges from 60-500mb. So whats (1.7gb) ? total max size to parse in one go ? If you feel I was able to understand the requirements correctly and want to proceed , feel free to ping me :)
