Wordpress update information using PHP!

Hi, I manage multiple wordpress sites and keep them all updated is a problem. I am try gin to fetch the Available Updates NUMBER for each wordpress site from a third party website. I though I could save a file with this data every visit and then read this file from my website using file_get_contents(). I was able to print out the 'available updates number' while logged in as an admin using wp_get_update_data() but this does not work is no admin. something like this: $update_data = wp_get_update_data(); $my_file = '[login to view URL]'; $handle = fopen($my_file, 'a') or die('Cannot open file: '.$my_file); $data = $update_data['counts']['plugins']; fwrite($handle, $data); and from my third party site: echo file_get_contents('[login to view URL]'); Of course this is just an idea. If you find another/easier solution, awesome. - NO CRON - please have a look at the image, just so you have an idea of what I need.
