Hi there, I'm very interested in your project. From what I understand you want something similar to ETSY, where people can list and sell their products as well as accepting payments and so on. The tricky part here is you are aiming for a large user and product base. This kind of project may well go into months of design and development as well as testing and it's not something that you can get build on Wordpress or other blogging platform made with plugins, for example. My proposal is to develop something fully custom. For what you're aiming, you need a tech stack that will be built to scale and this is what I"m preparing to offer in terms of tech stack: 1. REST API with Python, Django as Back-end [Secure and scales properly] 2. For handling the front-end, AngularJs is the framework of choice. [Google framework, they know how to get things right] 3. Either PostgreSql or MySQL for the database. Both are really good, although I lean towards Postgre for this purpose. 4. With this kind of platform, you are looking at cloud servers. AWS EC2 to handle the website code, AWS RDS for the database and S3 for content storage(example, pictures). By using AWS, the website can pretty much scale by itself, all things being equal.
