For 15 years I was with a company that had serviced an NCR based POS system with the Aloha software. I then created back in the day a POS Windows XP system that was patterned off the Aloha software. Current projects that I had done that are similar to this is a touch-based Inventory Control Systems for some small companies. I could show you screenshots of work but not actual code since the code was under contract and had to be given up after the project was completed. In looking at your job offer, let us take a hard look at what is really going on here. When it comes to a POS system, you are needing POS, ICS(Inventory Control System), and a database that will put the two work. If you are needing a full touchscreen monitor and hardware to go with you are now out of the budget price. In terms of a fee for something like this, I know that your budget is the same as anyone else -- tight. However, you may be hardpressed to find quality work for the price that you are offering. I had charged for something like this back when I did the XP project only because that was good pay then. For this reason, I would like to give you 2 proposals. The first one is for the software only. I will bill you for 100 hours (even though it will be more) at a rate of $25.00/hr. The second will be for the hardware only at $500.00 approximately. This would include a receipt printer, 12" POS monitor, and a receipt printer. I do not see anyone giving you a quality POS system for less.
