I am developng a new free webcam community site. I am having problems with the webcam viewing applet. This is how the software works so far. My cam software captures an image from any of the users video sources and uploads it to my server, naming the image the users login name and adds the .jpg extension at the end. This works great on fast connections but users with slow connection are always uploading and users trying to view the image get half or none of the image obviously as the broadcaster is overwriting it all the time! The applets just reloads the images at any set intervals, but i have set it to 3 second intervals. Is it possible to upload in a sequence of 2 or 3 images and the applet look for the lastest uploaded file and display the previous one first and then so one, therefore always being 1 behind the newest uploaded image? Also if the image is not full or corect, it should still display the current image? I am using the free source code for the [login to view URL] applet. It asks for the url of the image. The modified applet should look for the url name and add 1,2,3,4, i.e if the users name is "Happy" then the users images would be called "[login to view URL]", "[login to view URL]", ect, loading the oldest one first. The oldest one is`nt always the lowest number, as the user may be reuploading to image1. The applet must check the image timestamps, is it possible?. Maybe we should upload in a sequence of 10, and put the user as far behind as possible? I would also like to add a zoom in option to zoom in where the mouse is over the image. Also a status bar, showing the speed of downloaded images like the one used in Teveo.
