Hello, I've done a simmilar project on android using open source CanTact adapter an I'm confident I can do it usinga any available device that has api specification available. Relevant Skills and Experience CAN BUS/J1939, C/C++/Java/C# programming, USB driver programming, Android app development.

There a few questions that will be required to discuss before my suggested method. First of all, do you want to monitor these check engine lights remotely? For instance you want to be in your office and have the vehicle moving and when that alert comes up you get it on your app realtime. If that is the case then you will need a device with cell capability. Also, we can get the same OBD device to have GPS capability if you would like. This means we would get the location of the vehicle too. If this realtime reporting is not required and you just need the reading when close to the vehicle then we can make it happen with a blueetooth enabled device. I have experience in building both solutions can have something delivered in 8 days.
