My job is to get press coverage for brands, part of which is achieved by sending out press releases via Mailchimp. Each one includes a link to a Dropbox folder where all of the relevant hi res images and information are stored, so the journalists can easily download what they need in their own time. I then track the clicks on these links as potential coverage, recording them in a spreadsheet so either myself or the client can go hunting for their features at a later date.
My predicament is that Mailchimp doesn’t have any system whereby I can get a notification each time one of these download links is clicked. Unlike other newsletters, press releases get hoarded for weeks and months, sometimes years by the journalists, so people will be clicking these download links for a very long time after the campaign was sent. If I don't keep track of each one of these clicks I'll miss out on recording this valuable coverage for my clients, but it's too time-consuming for me to regularly check the click rate of every single past campaign.
So, what I need is for someone to build me something that will automatically check Mailchimp for link clicks, then send me an email notification. The email should contain the basic fields that I add for every list uploaded.
Link clicked
First name
Surname
Publication
Email address
Job title
It's also worth noting that I create a new, unique list of contacts for every campaign and then delete them around a month after the campaign is sent. So the solution will need to work around this. The clicks continue to track after a list is deleted so this shouldn't be an issue.
Thanks!
Lucy
