Dear Java Expert:
What we are looking for: We need a very reliable business professional with extensive Java and related skills who is interested in the ongoing support and maintenance of a Java program that was written for us many years ago. If the program or database breaks or goes off-line, we need someone who can quickly get it back online and running properly.
Brief Background: I own a small business ([login to view URL]) that runs a website that services 401k plans. I have been in business for 30 years. 12 years ago I had a Java program developed that is the heart of our 401k administration and accounting system. It is a Java J2EE web application running on Glassfish server with PostgreSQL database.
I have an excellent Java Developer who wrote the program 12 years ago, and currently does all the enhancements to the program. He is also the webmaster, and runs the program from his server facility. We are not looking to replace this person; we are looking to find qualified and dependable backup should he become temporarily unavailable.
Because our Java Developer runs a one-person business, I want someone available as a "human backup” for our Java Developer. We need an ongoing Java program maintenance arrangement with a well-qualified person. This backup person would need to become familiar with our Java program and how it runs, and be able to quickly fix any problems. We will pay an ongoing monthly support fee and expect the backup person to become familiar with our program and operations. Should it become necessary for this person to assume more responsibility in an emergency we will of course pay for that as well.
If you are interested in this opportunity please briefly describe any previous work experience that fits our needs.
Thank you,
James Gilbert
