Google Maps draw route

A website (written in JS + HTML) that shows a route on a map and displays additional information. Our API simply returns a list of coordinates (Latitude, Longitude, UTC), as JSON. The data is ordered by time. The website should initially load this data from our "API" and draw the route on the map. The data gets updated roughly every minute, so the website should check the API periodically and add new coordinates to the route. The zoom level / center of the map must be computed based on the data, so that the entire route is visible. When new coordinates are added, the zoom level / center must be updated. In addition, the website must display the length of the route, and the time elapsed. The length must be in both km and miles. The time should be updated every second. The Google Maps API provides libraries for computing length of path and to find bounding rectangles; these may be useful but we don't require them to be used. Requirements: - html, js, css. - the entire logic must be written in JS, no calls to other API or reliance on server-side scripts. - clean code :) - google maps API - ajax for checking for new coordinates and adding them to the route - layout must be suitable for desktop & mobile browsers
