We are a small architecture practice, requiring a simple project and resources finance management system. We have a prototype version that has been programmed by a friend as a proof of concept, which uses an excel database to store, retrieve and display historic and forecast cost information. It is important to us that the solution is relatively simple, accessible and adaptable for us. We need some additional functionality which may mean adjustments to our prototype or it may require rebuilding. I have uploaded the prototype. Currently, we can use the tool to manually input information from our timesheets (we do not wish to automate this) and also to forecast the resource required. This is expressed as a percentage time, but is calculated from the fees and resources table. Once entries are recorded as 'actual' we need this information to be 'frozen' as a £ cost in the database so that if our rates change, historic costs do not change. We also need to be able to enter and store invoices for each project in the database so that we can compare the fees invoiced with the actual cost at the bottom of the page. I hope that is clear.

Hello, I can prepare desired solution, for now I see that the workbook is mostly formulae, I can also rewrite existing code to be 3 times shorter (therefore more transparent), more efficient and do the same. I am experienced in creating very simple solutions, intuitive and easy to use, applying the fastest VBA methods, hence the macro works instantly no matter how much of data is in question. Regards

My full time job currently has me updating all of the Analysis templates for our Real Estate Appraisal Practice and I work on these sorts of things all of the time. From your explanation (and I would want to go through the requirements with you personally), I would setup your formulas to "Freeze," by setting up a conditional formula which only calculates once your manual entry (as requested) was entered. For your database, are you doing this in Excel or something else? If Excel, I could create Pivot Tables/Charts which will display the pertinent information and be easily formatted to find something different if needed. Or possibly it is simpler and we can use lookups and similar formulas. We would need to discuss to figure out what the best answer would be.
