I have worked with Nagios/Ansible. I'm proficient in using ansible for automation, including OpenStack API integration with Ansible for creating entire environments with a click of a button. I've used Monit along with Nagios, in order for Monit to notify nagios if it's unable to fix an issue within 60 seconds of it occurring. I don't know Ruby that well, how ever I am more than fluent in Python. I've used HAProxy, MaxScale ProxySQL and others during creation of HA environments including but not limited to AWS & OpenStack.
