I am a university educated native English speaker with experience of writing for various purposes. I have not written user manuals for products before but I have written explanatory leaflets on procedures for court users and training materials for staff. In these cases, I have taken time to consider what the reader of such documents needs to know and how to explain any technical terms so they can be understood by the average user. I have a general knowlegde of safety requirements but would research them further in my own time to ensure that I was including the correct information. It is difficult at this stage to estimate how long it would take to complete the job. I would need to see some of the documents first to come up with a realistic timetable. Well done for taking the trouble to get properly written manuals. I always hate it when I buy something and it is obvious that a non native speaker has written or translated the information.
