We have an existing web site built in Rails. We need to add the ability to add coupon codes and gift certificate codes. There will be a dialog box which a user can click to enter codes. Codes will be looked up in our database (postgres) to make sure they are valid. A message to the user will be provided to indicate whether they are valid or not. Codes will be stored with entries until invoice time. It will be possible to manage codes from our ActiveAdmin interface. Codes have the following characteristics: 1. They may expire on a certain date. 2. They may expire a certain number of days before a particular date where the date is an entry in our system (close date, invouce date, etc) 3. They may be single use or multi use. Gift certificate codes do not have rules, but are stored with entries until invoice time.

Hi! I am a programmer in TX, focused on Ruby on Rails web applications. I began programming almost 15 years ago and recently decided to move into freelance programming. I will create database tables to store coupons and gift certificates for you that you will be able to manage through your ActiveAdmin interface, including expiration dates as described in the project description and the number of times each coupon can be used. I will create the necessary dialog box interface for customers to check the validity of a coupon or gift certificate and associate the coupon or gift certificate with their account. I will provide documentation on how to use the new ActiveAdmin interfaces for you to share with employees. I have a few questions to ask regarding this project: - Will I be randomly generating codes for both gift certificates and coupons? or only for gift certs so you can name coupons anything you wish for promotional purposes such as coupon code "50%OFF1STMONTH"? - Will your employees be manually applying coupons and gift certificates to customer invoices or will I be interfacing with your invoice system? If I am going to need to interface with your invoice system I will need to know details about the invoice system in advance(may change bid price slightly). I expect to complete the project ahead of schedule.
