Convert Excel Document to JSON

Hello, I have a Microsoft Excel document with Lab data. The document contains information about each lab value. We need to capture all the values inside a JSON object. I would like someone to create Python script to extract data into a JSON object. You need to parse data in each column into appropriate variable in the JSON object. We need to run this script on Debian server(s) which is running Python 2.5/2.6. I do not like to use too many 3rd party libraries. We do like you to use efficient coding conventions and appropriate comments/documentation. If this is something you can do, please respond with your bid, library you would use along with time frames.
