I am building a website to support a personal hobby of mine...college fantasy football. I have a group of college football fans (Gator fans to be exact) and we've played a game for the past few years that is similar to fantasy football, but more like a stock market (see [login to view URL])...but this is NOT commercial. My site is purely for fun. I know very little about webapp development. I have a WebFaction server and require assistance configuring the site and apps to support my game. Basic concept is that it will require a fan to create an account and login. They will be given a fake money balance of $200 (as an example). There is an "Order" page with a form that lists all players for the Football team and their respective stock "price", and the user must then enter an order quantity. The football player's price will change based on performance (stats). I will handle the database (MySQL) components (I am a DBA)...just need help with the site and forms to place orders, etc.

Sounds like an interesting project :) Here are some questions that occur to me. Do you know a web resource where the player performance data can be automatically retrieved? It's usually very easy to write a web scraper in Python, provided the target site doesn't use a lot of JavaScript. What other pages on the site do you have in mind? Can a user see a record of their transactions? How about player details page with their statistics and perhaps a graphical history of performance? The athletexchange site also has a forum. I have experience with DjangoBB, which seems to be the most sophisticated offering in Django. Is this needed? Also, the database models need to be specified in the Django model system, from which it will generate the tables and key relations etc. - just so you know before you spend time designing a db with elements incompatible with Django's built in data structures!
