My company recently implemented MS Project 2003 system to manage our real estate development processes. Most users interact with the system using PWA (project web access). However, PWA is designed out of the box to record progress on tasks using "total work" and "remaining work", both recorded by the user in hours. This progress tracking system does not work for our needs. All we want to record is "% complete" and "remaining duration" (in days).
Our project consultants tell us that this change is quite feasible because project web access is simply a series of web pages using MSFT "web parts", posting and drawing information directly to and from our Project Server database. However, modifying these web pages is not something they are equipped to do.
As you can see in the picture attached, the editable sections of the PWA tasks page are white and any edited numbers are red. Uneditable sections of the page are grayed out.
## Deliverables
Modify the "tasks" page of PWA to allow user to see and edit "% complete" and "remaining duration" so that when the user clicks to update the database any new information is sucessfully transmitted back to the Project Server and the Project Manager is alerted (as usually happens in Project).
Work is not complete until this is all working smoothly for all users on the system and the project is updating based on the newly updated information.
We will consider the code developed to have been purchased, and we will not owe any fees or ownership interest to the coder. The coder may, however, re-use the code for work with other clients on other projects.
## Platform
MSFT Project 2003 running on Windows 2000 Server. Clients all running latest version on IE and accessing PWA over a network.
