Custom Elgg plugin for a heathcare social n/w

The goal here is to bridge the gap between a pure social network and the more personal networks in our lives like that between a doctor and his/her patients. Scenario :? **ConnectedDoc**? is an elgg based social network meant to foster stronger ties between doctors and their patients. Typical stuff thats available here is information on health and fitness, health forums, blogs, ratings etc. **ConnectedClinic**? is a clinic that uses an open source electronic medical record system called openEmr ([login to view URL]).? Every time a patient comes to the clinic to meet the doctor the following things get recorded in the emr 1. Patient appointment time. 2. Patient Vitals (Height/Weight/Blood pressure/Respiratory Rate) 3. Doctor notes / observations 4. Test reports are prescribed/uploaded 5. Medical prescriptions are given out. The idea is to make relevant parts of this information available in a custom plugin on the elgg platform so that based on who logs in either the patient or the doctor the plugin displays information of the last couple of medical encounters to the logged in members. ? ## Deliverables The information to be shown in the scope of this project would? for be the following For ? Doctors 1. Last 5 patients encountered in chronological order like a conversation view aka gmail inbox. 2. Clicking on each patient encounter would drill down into doctor notes, lab reports, prescriptions. 3. A small popup widget would then show relevant contextual information based on what the doctors has typed. For eg : If the diagnosis is for HIV then the most current information on hiv via scientific journals would show up there. This view should change based on the encounter. 4. Clicking on the Lab report should bring it up in a viewer. (Typically PDF) 5. Clicking on the prescriptions should bring up more information on the prescribed drugs (for now just google search results). For Patients 1. Last five visits grouped by doctor in chronological order like a conversation view aka gmail inbox. 2. Clicking on each visit would drilldown into lab reports and prescriptions 3. Clicking on a report should bring it up in a viewer. (Typically PDF) 4. Clicking on the prescriptions should bring up more information on the prescribed drugs (For now just google search results.). General :? 1. The plugin should seamlessly integrate inside elgg (enable/disable/access control/edit etc). 2. The plugin should have edit functionality to choose the following. 1. Number of encounters to show (5 default) 2. Share with : Default is none due to the sensitive information. but the user should be able to specify which members on the network to share it with. This is useful when the patient wants to forward details to another doctor on the network. 3. The first time a user accesses the plugin he/she should be made to accept a declaration stating in legal terms that they are ok with pulling out their health records from "ConnectedClinic" and into "ConnectedDoc".? ? Advanced features (Optional) : 1. Upload paper report into the system for the doctor to review. Once reviewed and signed it should find its way back to the EMR system. 2. Typically the user sees only the last 5-10 encounters; add a search functionality to look into older reports. General: 1. I will provide both the openemr and the elgg instances for testing purposes. 2. OpenEmr can be downloaded from [login to view URL] and elgg from [login to view URL] 3. This is a proof of concept that I am attempting here so the focus is on functionality and usability rather than "good looking design". Simple user interface that works well will do.
