My current coder uses a somewhat obscure language known as Visual Objects with FoxPro Databases. Originally based on Nantucket’s Clipper Language (DOS), it is a very powerful language. Unfortunately, Consumer Associates Inc. never really marketed the program. Development of this language is now being maintained by Grafx. They are in the process of getting the language under MS .Net Framework under the name of Vulcan.
I am not a lover of Access, on the contrary. The files are huge because they contain so much information that has nothing to do with database management. Especially when the files start to become large, Access files leave a lot to be desired.
One of my students created an Exam / Quiz program for students to practice for various upcoming licensing exams. The data base was created in Access. The curriculum requirements have changed and working with Access to meet the new requirements is not feasable.
