Basic Automated Music Player/Storer and Radio Stations System

We are in need of developing an add-on piece of software for a major server based system called our "Radio Stations". Like a radio station, it has a playlist of music and audio adverts that are played within the playlist. The adverts and music are in two separate folders. The adverts are played over a song between X and Y songs apart, where X and Y are two separate numbers (eg 3 and 7). Therefore, the next advert will play over the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th song. The advert that will play is the next advert in the list (we may adjust this parameter in the next version). The location of the music is the important part, where the music files may actually be on a USB stick or card that the user of the day may bring with them to play. The system must make it easy to detect and set this, as it not necessarily easy to access the files to set up. The use of a compressor expander is also important, so that all files are of a similar volume when playing. This player will be written in C or, preferably, the new .NET ([login to view URL]) so that it will run cross platform (UNIX or Windows). Music • Default playlist location Set drive and directory (if it cannot find a selected playlist, it will play this one) • Play list folder Folder Set drive and directory (this will allow multiple playlists, each in different folder) Play list folder Folder • Selected Playlist Select playlist to play (combobox of folder names in the Playlist folder) • Volume Set compressor max volume (slider control) • Audio Equalizer Set all 10 stages (via a slider) Default templates (rock, soft, pop, etc) • Play options: Play in order Shuffle b.
