Hey, I'm Martin from Argentina. Why you need Java? It seems you need Android there. I'm certfied in Java 1.6 and also have experience with Android using the GPS. One of my previous jobs was to build a GPS locator for a Android Phone. I made both, the android app and the web service to receive all this data so I faced a lot of problems related with storing a lot of GPS positions every x seconds. This app was really good, it was performing well and configurable via web admin tool, that means you could configure your phone from a browser. Was used to control the track of ambulances in Montevideo, Uruguay, it was a prototype. Basically was build using threads, 3 threads: 1) thread #1: config check every x seconds 2) thread #2: provide geo location services storing locally 3) thread #3: check connectivity and send geo locations So, I've got some experience using android and the gps.
