Convert a Wordpress template (TBD) to the new TalkingGOOD.com

Talking GOOD is a philanthropic program that creates inspiring web content by recognizing people who are making a difference. To date, I've not made a dime from this effort. In 2013, I worked with a web development firm to build out the current site: www.talkingGOOD.com. It was a tremendous investment of our collective time and energy, but this is something I believe in -- so it was worth it to me. After six months of work, they delivered a wonderful first iteration of the site, developed with Ruby on Rails (whoops!). Unfortunately, I am not able to modify or update the site AT ALL given the proprietary nature of its platform. So now I'm stuck with a site that I can’t manage or grow. Essentially, I want to start from scratch, building in an environment that is user friendly and lets me (along with other profile contributors) change content as we see fit. Wordpress appears to offer the best options for my needs (although I'm open to other options if they make sense). I'd like to work with a developer who has a design aesthetic, so that we can together select a template that meets my needs and then customize it accordingly. Time is also a factor as I would like to have the new site ready to go in the fall. I'm attaching a mock up that I did in Power Point. It's intended simply to convey how I'm hoping the new site departs from the old one (not b/c I want the new site to look like this per se). I look forward to hearing back from folks. I'm thinking having someone local (in Baltimore, MD) would make this process easier, but it's not a prerequisite.
