1 document written on XML security

I need a document written by someone that is a security expert to discuss how to make secure communication using XML "packets" through the internet.

One of my projects will entail PCs and PDAs communicating with a web service to store and retrieve medical information. In order to be portable we will use XML as the data format between the end user computers (PCs, PDAs, etc...) and the data server.

The server will use a Web Service using .NET 2.0. Another server will contain a SQL 2005 database.

Each machine will receive the data and then see if the module (DLL) on their machine is available. If not, it will download the software from the server. Of course, this must also be secure and not allow malicious software to be loaded on the client computers.

I need a document that discusses how to make this as secure as possible. It must meet the HIPAA standards and must have the least amount of security vulnerability as possible.

The paper does not have to go into extreme detail, because that would take an entire book. But it must note an overview of the entire process.

## Deliverables

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
