Research title: The Usage of Logistics outsourcing (3PL) in Cyprus
My 10,000’s words dissertation project aims to investigate the use of third party logistics in Cyprus companies from the users’ perspective and to identify the improvement opportunities in the Cyprus environment.
In order to achieve the aim of this research, the following five supporting objectives are established.
Objective 1
To investigate the main reasons for outsourcing logistics activities, and also the reasons for not outsourcing logistics activities in Cyprus.
Objective 2
To establish the impact of usage of 3PL providers on shipping providers in Cyprus.
Objective 3
To investigate critical success factors and attributes of 3PL service providers which are considered most important for employing, evaluating and selecting 3PL by users of 3PL in Cyprus.
Objective 4
To evaluate the customer satisfaction level of Cyprus 3PL services.
Objective 5
To investigate the future plans of current 3PL users in Cyprus.
A quantitative method would be more appropriate concerning this topic through mail questionnaire which has been selected for the use in this study in order to obtain the effective data for the following reasons:
•Reasons for outsourcing logistics activities
•Reasons for not outsourcing logistics activities
•Extent of use of third-party logistics services
•Length of experience in using 3PL services
•3PL services used
•Nature and length of third-party contract
•Used information sources for finding 3PL service providers
•Critical success factors of selecting and evaluating 3PL providers
•Impacts of the use of 3PL providers on user firms
•Logistics outsourcing Plans for the future
The target sample size of this research is 20 companies within Cyprus. The target respondents typically hold the title of Manager, senior manager, Director and should be shipping provider in Cyprus.

Chapter 3 – Literature review
Chapter 4 – Methodology
Chapter 5 – Survey results and Discussions
Chapter 6 – Conclusions and Recommendations
Additional information:
• Non-probability sampling is essential to be used through homogeneous sampling.
• Sample is depended on the number of companies that are available in the Cyprus market.
• It is an exploratory research. A quantitative analysis has been selected for this type of research through structured questionnaire.
• The data must be analysed mainly by using the statistics program SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences).
Timeframe:
1. Prepare the questionnaire
2. Prepare a clear message in order to have many changes of getting as much more responses as possible
3. I will provide you with a list of companies which are appropriate for this study and we going to decide the way that we will approach them
4. The questionnaire should be included in the appendix
5. After we obtain a satisfying number of responses, the project will be ready to start as follow:
