Create an autocomplete field of a list of checkboxes

I want to create an autocomplete field depending on a list o checkboxes which should work on different versions of navigators (IE +7, Chrome, Firefox ...).

This is how it should look like : [login to view URL] (it doesn't work on IE < 9 )

P.S: The script shouldn't use document.ready. There are other functions and data, so the script should be also independent.
