Meenal is a muti-disciplinary visual artist who has been working in the documentary sector for over 3 years now. Having knowledge in various genres of photography, like food, travel, and fashion; her true journey as a documentary photographer started in 2018, when she received a fellowship from WaterAid India. Their very first batch of 7 Water Fellows documented stories around how clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene practices have a positive impact on an individual’s life and how the lack of it can lead to unimaginable circumstances. Additionally, Meenal has also documented stories around menstrual hygiene practices in various KGBVs (Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas) in Madhya Pradesh. Her work was exhibited in Delhi and Bhopal on World Water Day and World Menstrual Hygiene Day. It was also published online by News18, Hindustan Times, NDTV, and so on. She has supervised the WADA Campaign in Uttar Pradesh for two consecutive years, i.e. 2019-2020 for UNICEF, UPSRLM and PHFI, where she photographed the 'Poshan Maah' and 'Hello Didi' interventions, assisted in all the associated films and designed brochures, infographics, and books for the programme. She has assisted Ruhani Kaur, photojournalist, during the UNCCD COP 14, and Prashanth Vishwanathan, photojournalist, during several shoots for Bloomberg India. She has directed films for TATA Trusts’ Parag Initiative, and has conducted high profile interviews for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India during the COVID-19 Vaccine Awareness Drive, 2021. She has also supervised Polio Radio Spots and several COVID-19 animation films for UNICEF and WaterAid India. As a freelance transcriptionist, to note a few; she has worked for UNDP Anchal App, WaterAid UK’s Manual Scavenging Story, PCV FAQs for Frontline Health Workers, etc.
