Update of Wordpress theme & creation of Child theme & WooCommerce activation

We are using old version of our WP theme: [login to view URL]
We want to update the parent theme to the next version. Unfortunately, we did customizations in parent theme, so if we update now, all customization is gone.
Steps:
- Backup of parent and child theme
- take over customizations of Parent theme into Child theme
- Update Parent theme
- check if everything works & check if any console errors
- Check Woo Commerce Functionality
We want to update easier in future our theme.
