BigCommerce theme customisation and API research

This purpose of this project is to customise a Stencil theme for an ecommerce store that will be selling adult products. The site will be specifically targeted towards the gay community and will hosted on bigcommerce. The successful freelancer should be comfortable working with this content.

Products in this store will be populated using an automatic data feed with the supplier so there will be no need to upload any products to the store.

This project requires a freelancer who is both technically competent in terms of theme customisation using the Stencil framework, whilst also having the creative flair to design a store that embodies a look and feel aligned to the stores brand.

The brand will be catering to the hardcore/extreme/fetish end of the gay sex / bdsm market. The freelancer will have a fairly large amount of creative freedom on this project but should ultimately deliver a look and feel that can be described as edgy, industrial and hardcore.

There are a number of key deliverables for this project.

1. Development a landing page hosted that will temporarily replace the stores home page. This page should contain a bold heading staying "opening soon". It should feature the store's name and logo. An integration has been established with Mail Chimp. This landing page needs to contain a 'subscribe to updates' section that allows email addresses to be captured and sent through to a Mail Chimp list. The freelancer will not need to develop the Mail Chimp campaign they will just need to link to it.

2. Identify an appropriate fully responsive Stencil theme that enables all of the default BigCommerce features to be enabled. In addition the theme should be able to support membership pop-up, Mega Menu Advanced, Product Labels, Social Sharing Buttons, Brand Slider, Extra space for Promotion Text, Banners, Store Information, Links etc. Preference for a polished, clean, modern looking site. The theme can either be provided by the freelancer or purchased by the employer. If the theme is to be purchased by the employer, the cost of this should be stated upfront in your bid for this project

3. Besides the standard additional pages (about us, return/refunding policy, shipping information, terms and conditions, contact us) the following pages need to be created. Blog - to support regular publishing of blog articles including photo/video posts, Escorts - to provide information regarding special offers available to escorts, Community videos - to host a repository of video's submitted by the store's users, Partnerships - information about corporate relationships held with other brands.

4. When the store opens the 'opening soon' landing page needs to be replaced with a landing page warning about adult content. This need to include a button where the user indicates they are 21 years or older in order to access the site.

5. As mentioned the store's products will be populated using an automated data feed. The final task for this project is to research the technical requirements for establishing a live link using the big commerce API along with the API of each of the three suppliers. The freelancer needs to present an accurate understanding of what is involved in establishing and maintaining these connections including estimated [login to view URL] should then be compared with the inventory automation service offered by Inventory Source ([login to view URL]). A recommendation should be made about whether to use the inventory source service, or to establish a data link separately. This could potentially lead to additional work to actually develop the API link.
