CURL / PHP project, login to site, and preform task.

I need some assistance writing a php / CURL script to login and place a bet on this site - [login to view URL]
Ideally i want to be able to login using a function like this -
login($username, $password){
// login to site
// confirm login
}
and then place a bet with a func like this
place_bet($stake, $event){
// confirm odds
// place bet
// confirm that bet has been placed
}
I DONT want to use a framework - ie. cakephp, zend ect..
I dont think its a particularly hard job, i was playing around using httpfox, to get the headers, im just not very good using CURL
I will provide a username and password, but you may want to sign up with a test account if you want to see whats involved
