Article 11
INTEREST RATES
1. Interest originating in one Contracted Nation / State and which is paid to a resident in another Contracting State may be taxed in the other State.
2. However, this interest income can be taxed also in the Contracting State where the interest income originates, in compliance with the laws of this State. When the recipient is the beneficial owner of the interest income, the applied taxation shall not exceed 10 % of the gross interest amount.
The application of these cross border issues will be resolved through mutual understanding by the competent authorities within each of the Contracting States.
3. Despite the provisions in paragraph 2, interest originating in one Contracting State and paid to a Government of a different Contracting State or to its National Bank, is exempt from taxation in the Contracting State mentioned at the beginning.
