I am an Electrical Engineer working for the construction industry.
I deal with engineering drawings, load schedules, bills of quantities, purchase of electrical products, installation and testing.
I am working with electricians at the workplace; it is a wonderful experience that still needs to improve, considering I am working with the boys from a place I'm not 'really' from - it takes time to settle.
My first job exposed me to reading engineering drawings where I learned systems such as fire alarm, CCTV, access control, lighting and electrical power distribution used for a particular project, for example.
I have also worked as an estimator, taking quantity takeoffs and putting the electrical devices' and equipments' rates into sheet (no software at the time) so that the sum of the whole project was used for tender.
There was a time when I worked with electricians where we had to wire-up the circuit breakers and main breaker for a main distribution board (MDB) of a mall in Dubai.
