Scripted File System Backup and Restoration – Disaster Recovery Automation - 28/04/2018 08:44 EDT

We’re a small team looking for someone to work closely with us to automate the backup and retrieval of files from and to a Windows file system. You will have a great deal of influence on the direction of the project whilst working in collaboration directly with the production team. The project must be completed during the first half of May, 2018. You will need to be able to attend online meetings to discuss and demonstrate your progress on a regular basis. Meetings will be based on a London time zone working day, however we are flexible in terms of working hours and location. Project context/requirements: - Specified directories stored on a Windows fileshare must be backed up securely to cloud storage on a given schedule. - When triggered, backed up files must be downloaded to a different location (Windows box). Folder structures must be retained. - Setup of the backup process would ideally be automated, however manual setup/configuration would be considered. - There must be no requirement for human intervention during or after the restoration process (although it may be triggered manually). - A record/log of both backup and restoration must be retained. - Cloud storage must be either Azure or AWS. - Leveraging and automating existing backup tools (e.g. Azure Backup) is preferred over creation of custom scripts. You will be able to suggest and advise on different ways of meeting these requirements and will have experience of using/scripting/automating these processes. The background to this project is a drive for automation that is not possible with our current specialist off-site/cloud backup service provider. On a given schedule, backup restoration and verification will be performed as part of wider infrastructure and data disaster recovery activities. We look forward to hearing from you!
