We need an Ubuntu OpenStack expert to architect and then set up two small private clouds.
We have servers in two colocation data centers, seven servers in one and six in the other. For each install, we want high availability at the management server level, with good backups/snapshots scheduled of individual VMs. Because we will host the two data centers in an active-active setup (the monitoring/database replication/load-balancing/failover between the data centers is outside of the scope of this project), we do not need continuous availability of the individual VMs themselves. Performance is essential (i.e., don't suggest a synchronous DRBD solution across the data centers).
VMs will run KVM and will be mostly Linux (can be either Ubuntu or Centos) and some Windows. Some of our existing VMs are QCOW2 format and need to be migrated to this new OpenStack cloud. If you select a storage platform such as Ceph, you will need to convert the QCOW2 to Raw format as part of the install (_after_ the main OpenStack is up an running). We are flexible about which storage solution will be used, provided it is both performant and resilient within each data center.
We will provide access to the boxes via IPMI and OpenVPN and expect our partner to install and configure OpenStack with this access.
The winning bidder will have previous experience installing OpenStack on Ubuntu and will confirm their background and expertise with OpenStack in their initial response. Once this project is complete, there are opportunities for continued work with us, particularly with monitoring and sysadmin of this OpenStack environment.
