This project would require a number of image filtering processes to be applied to a folder and the resulting images saved into another folder. My preference is Python as I will likely need to modify the steps accordingly. The ideal candidate would be experienced with GIMP, IMAGE J, or equivalent open-source imaging programs.

Hi, As i understand your project you need automation script for series of image filter. I personally use GIMP for my graphic works and as I know GIMP provides Python-script that we can use it to develop our required automation script. Also in Python Scientific libraries (Scipy Stack) there are some packages for image processing like scipy, scikit-image or even Opencv as alternative solution we can develop an automation script with one of these library. I have good experiences developing code in Python Programming language for scientific application and Machine learning projects more than 3 years . I also have taught scientific programming with python workshop several times including NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, Jupyter and Pandas topics. So i think i can help you and write your required codes.
