Build a Wordpress plugin to hide/show content

We need a custom plugin built for our website. The example site is currently located here: [login to view URL] The idea of this plugin is to allow the website to display different content based on the user's location (they select this from a menu, no geo-tracking involved). The user selects their location from a dropdown which stores their selection in a cookie. From then on each page will have different sections that will be hidden or shown based on their choice. For example: - User selects "USA" for location - User visits page with this code: <div class="loc USA"> USA text </div> <div class="loc Brazil"> Brazil text </div> <div class="loc Mexico"> Mexico text </div> - The user would only see "USA text" based on their location selection This code would apply to a few different areas, project specifics are below: 1. This should be an actual packaged (zip) plugin file, not custom coded for only this site. Must be self contained. 2. In admin section: under 'Settings' add link for City Manager - At top have a short description of the plugin - This page allows the admin a place to add/remove available cities/locations - Page should have a jquery based way to add cities to a list (no refresh page for each new city added, only save after all cities are added) - Options per city are: City Name, Slug (can be auto generated, unique id used in rest of site to determine content) - Buttons to delete existing city - Button to add new city - See screen shot for rough example 3. Menu Structure Hook - Ability to hide/show a menu item based on the location - In the admin section when editing a menu add option under each menu item "Limit by Location" checkbox. - If the checkbox is selected it will expand a list of the available locations (from City Manager) with text "Check cities to display for" - If this is enabled then that menu item will be hidden for everyone, except the selected locations. - If option is not enabled the menu item appears for all users - See screen shot for example 4. Hide Content by Class - Add a hook to hide/show areas based on HTML class for elements - User adds two classes to elements - 'loc' class identifies this element will be tied to the plugin - additional classes are the 'slug' defined in the City Manager. So an element with class="loc Mexico" would only display for users who selected Mexico - It may be better to use class and rel attributes, instead of only class. rel for the slug. You determine which is easier. - These should function everywhere on the site. ie. widgets, text areas, posts, pages, etc. 5. Short Code for Adding the Location Dropdown menu - Plugin should include a short code to place a dropdown menu on the page. - short code is [location-selector] - Where ever this code is added in the site it will be replaced with a dropdown similar to the attached screen shot. A similar dropdown can also be see at: [login to view URL] - The values will pull from the cities added in the 'City Manager' admin section - Before the dropdown element add text 'Your City - {current city}' - When user selects a city it will: a. store a cookie for user: pflocation = {the slug they selected} b. Cookie should stay valid for a long time so if they come back later it remembers their selection c. Without reloading the page show/hide any menu items or content that matches their selection (use jquery, not page reload) 6. Change location based on URL parameter - Add a function that checks for a URL parameter 'pflocation' - Example is [login to view URL] - If that parameter exists automatically add the cookie for that slug and update the page to show/hide menu items and content based on the selection If you have better ideas of how this should function the exact specifics can change.
