We have a windows service which responds to calls from IIS. IIS connects to this windows service via socket connections. I have created some code to simulate the work that the service needs to execute for each call from IIS. Currently the service spawns a new thread for each incoming call from IIS; however, we know this is not efficient. Thread pooling would already be far more efficient but there are some other methods that even more efficient. The goal of this project is to create a windows service that can handle as many as possible simultaneous calls from IIS. If you bid for this project you would have to specify how many simultaneous calls your service would be able to handle; each call would have to execute the below code. This project must be done in vb.net void functionToExecute() { simulateCallToDatabase(); simulateWork(); simulateCallToDatabase(); simulateWork(); } void simulateWork() { Hashtable hash = new Hashtable(); ; for (int i = 0; i < 999; i++) [login to view URL](i, i); for (long x = 0; x < 999; x++) for (long xx = 0; xx < 999; xx++) [login to view URL](xx); } void simulateCallToDatabase() { //sometimes the database takes a little while to respond //and sometimes it fails to return a result in which case you need to query the database again [login to view URL](1000); }
