Creating a safe therapeutic space

Creating Safe Environment in Therapy: As social workers, we will frequently stop to discuss strategies that include creating safety for the population we are serving. Choose an environment that you want to make trauma informed, and pretend you are the therapist in that clinic. (Possibly in a HIV related setting) The paper should be constructed as if you are proposing changes to the environment where services are being provided. This could range from remodeling a building to the specific layout of your personal office. The discuss will include Micro, Mezzo, and Macro level clinical transactions. The paper should be thorough regarding the ways you would construct an environment where the trauma survivors would be able to experience safety from the time they enter until the time they exit. This includes specific strategies for assessment processes, intake processes, reducing noise, reducing triggers, etc. This is not a budgeted project so be very creative. As part of the assignment you will be expected to contact a trauma informed agency and ask any staff member how they have constructed (or plan to construct) the type of environment you are writing on for this assignment.
