Read XML file from HTML file on a router, without the use of a server

A simple website is uploaded on a MikroTik router, but it can be used on other kinds or routers too. The HTML file works. The HTML file is supposed to read some data from an XML file, but Chrome is blocking the XMLHttpRequest with AJAX and JavaScript. There isn't a server or anything similar, no PHP. Can the XML file be accessed in some other way and it's content retrieved?
