With 107 stores and counting and a new buying office overseas, we have a continuous job flow of consumer products that need great packaging. We import a wide range of products throughout many different categories. We are looking to hire a talented & experienced “super star” packaging designer to join our external freelance design team. This position will be responsible for creating professional and strategic artwork that will showcase an item and it’s features and in turn, help sell more of that product. The success of this position relies heavily on creating legitimate product brands from the ground up. This goes well beyond just designing a logo for a box. Conveying personality and tone; building a brand's essence will help our customers make an emotional connection to that brand and assist in making current and future purchasing decisions. Under the direction of the lead packaging designer, you will contribute to the overall creation & implementation of package designs. Daily communication via email and video conferencing, USA Eastern Time Zone. We are hoping this will develop into a long term relationship. Technical Skills Required: • Highly skilled in Adobe CS5, Illustrator & Photoshop, 3D software experience is a plus • Strong Drawing & Illustration skills • Extremely skilled photo retoucher and compositor • Seasoned logo & brand development skills Attributes Required: • Strong, conceptual, layout and design skills. • Must be well versed in many graphic design styles • Ability to translate creative briefs into effective graphic communication strategies • A sharp eye for typography & design with a deep understanding of composition & color theory • Strong communication skills & ability to take direction • Ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously under tight deadlines • Fully understands the pre-press production process including knowledge of image preparation for print • Exceptional English language skills required • A current portfolio that demonstrates smart creative concepts and solutions with a strong focus on mass markets We require you to be available for email, telephone, and video conference between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:30 pm Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday.
